A studio with a goal to explore different uses of renewable materials, pine sawdust is celebrated through the integration of wood fibrous insulation and the introduction of sawdust as a translucent material. The main obstacle being a renewable binding agent, generic wood glue was used for the majority of insulation experiments. Other adhesives were explored such as Portland cement and natural latex. A prototype was developed utilizing wood fibrous insulation at different densities to achieve a cavity blending form. From ceiling to wall and finally, to platform, this material creates a lounging pod that could potentially be used for emergency shelter beds or integrated within someone's home.
