An ongoing project, this soon to be greenhouse expresses it's primary function, creating the prime conditions for plants to grow. In order to do so, the structure has to control temperature throughout the seasons. Re-using the lower frame of what was once a dog pen, this steel structure offered good bones and sentimental value to the client. In need of a wider entry, two existing bays were exaggerated in order to extract hot air through the warmer months and will soon be accompanied by an operable door to hold in heat in the colder months. The east wall will have operable panels in order to allow cool air to enter creating a convectional loop to prevent overheating in the summer. Details of interaction between the new and the old are expressed in order to build a communicative narrative.
